Sam began his career in financial services as a teenager, becoming a mortgage adviser at just 19. With experience across banking, estate agency and independent mortgage advice, he founded The Mortgage & Protection Hub in 2023 to build a modern, relationship-led brokerage with a fresh approach.

Since then, Sam has grown the business from a solo operation into a team of advisers supporting clients across the UK, alongside developing a strong network of introducer and strategic partners.

His focus goes beyond arranging mortgages. Sam is passionate about building long-term relationships, delivering exceptional client experiences and creating a business where people genuinely want to work and grow.

Entrepreneurial by nature, he is driven by business, personal development and bringing ambitious people together. He believes collaboration beats competition and that lasting success comes from building genuine relationships, playing the long game and consistently creating value for others.

Alongside leading The Mortgage & Protection Hub, Sam is involved in several other business ventures, focusing increasingly on strategy, partnerships and developing the people around him. He also shares his journey openly on social media, highlighting both the successes and challenges of building a business.

Originally from Brighton, Sam now splits his time between Sussex and London. Outside work, he enjoys travelling, training and spending time with those closest to him.

His philosophy is simple: build great businesses, with great people, for the long term.

Joe has been a mortgage adviser since January 2022, starting at Nationwide Building Society before moving on into the independent world. Joe joins The Mortgage & Protection Hub with great experience in estate agency, and will mainly be building his business from Hove — although not limited to this area, he is also available for online appointments.

Always wanting to be in financial services, Lewis studied accounting in college before realising he wanted to be in more client-facing roles. He began as a trainee mortgage adviser — learning the mortgage advice process, ensuring a smooth client journey, and providing office support for advisers. He became a fully qualified mortgage adviser in May 2025.

Lewis primarily operates out of the South East and is available nationwide for online appointments.

Sam Lightwood is a CeMAP-qualified Mortgage and Protection Adviser working in partnership with The Mortgage & Protection Hub, with over 8 years of banking experience across frontline and specialist roles. He began his career at Lloyds, where he built a strong foundation in lending, client service, and financial planning. After several years in traditional banking, Sam chose to move away from the 9 to 5 model to build a business offering greater flexibility, autonomy, and long-term growth.

Through his partnership with The Mortgage & Protection Hub, Sam focuses on growing his advisory business while providing clear, compliant, and tailored advice. He has a particular interest in supporting creators, influencers, and athletes, helping those with non-traditional income structures navigate mortgages and protection with confidence.

Sam is committed to building long-term client relationships, simplifying complex decisions, and delivering outcomes that support both lifestyle and future security.

Steve has worked in financial services since 2012 and became a Mortgage Adviser in 2013. Since then, he has worked exclusively with independent firms, building extensive knowledge of lender criteria and a strong understanding of the different mortgage options available.

With a degree in Maths and a keen eye for detail, Steve particularly enjoys working on more complex cases and finding solutions tailored to each client’s circumstances.

Based between Thailand and Brighton, Steve is able to advise clients across the UK throughout the year, bringing his experience and attention to detail to every case.

With a strong background in education and a variety of administrative roles, Sophie plays a vital role in supporting case management, providing administrative assistance and ensuring clear communication with clients for a smooth and stress-free mortgage journey.

Sophie’s keen eye for detail and genuine passion for helping individuals achieve their home-ownership goals make her an invaluable part of our team. Her professionalism and expertise ensure every mortgage application is handled efficiently and with care – allowing our advisers to focus more on supporting and advising clients.

Shannon is a Mortgage & Protection Adviser with first-hand experience of military life as a veteran herself. This gives her a unique understanding of the challenges serving personnel, veterans and their families can face when securing a mortgage.

She specialises in military mortgages and is passionate about helping clients navigate the mortgage process with clear, straightforward advice tailored to their individual circumstances.

Originally from South Africa and based in Cape Town, Ameya works closely alongside the Founder & Managing Director as his Personal Assistant, supporting his day-to-day priorities and helping keep the wider business organised and moving forward.

Her role covers a wide range of areas, from coordinating meetings and supporting projects to administration, lead tracking, reporting and helping improve systems and processes. She enjoys finding practical ways to keep things organised, make tasks simpler and ensure nothing gets overlooked.

Friendly, approachable and always happy to get stuck in, she enjoys the variety that comes with working in a growing business where no two days are quite the same. She is passionate about supporting the team, learning along the way and playing her part in the continued growth and success of The Mortgage & Protection Hub.
